Quartet Revisit (Review 2.0)
Tell me if you've heard this one before: a Shop Girl, a Cook, a Mage, a Sergeant, a Doctor/Spy, a Euruphant, a Phylaka, and a Golem walk onto an airship…
Wait, didn't we cover this on PC already?

Until last year, the only game I regularly replayed was Final Fantasy VI (I do swap the system I play on to keep it fresh). That changed when I awarded Quartet the “Something Else to Satisfy the FF6 Yearly Itch Award” in “The Totally-Not-Made-Up DearGamers GOTYEE Awards 2025.” I just did not think that it would be less than a year removed from thoroughly enjoying the game on PC that I would get to play on another system.
Guess what? That system is the Switch. The wait is finally over for Nintendo fans to experience one of the best RPGs of recent years.
For those wondering, this review was done on BOTH the Switch (a Lite) and the Switch 2. It ran flawlessly on both systems so no one has to be left in the dark. My review remains largely the same (HERE) with all of its glowing praise and none of my critiques!
Is there anything new in this version? You bet your ass there is (well, sort of). Everything that is in the release version on Steam is available on Switch right now. The latest release on Steam is 1.3 with Gluhender’s Grotto (if interested, here are the last full patch notes).
Where would I recommend playing? Honestly, I had just as much fun the second time on the Switch Lite/Switch 2 as I did on PC (I played 90% of that on the Steam Deck). I will say that I did enjoy being able to play on the Switch Lite as I prefer that over the Switch 2 and Steam Deck when it comes to form factor. That said, the game runs beautifully on all of the above. I said that it was a can’t miss title on 2025 and if you have not experienced it yet, it is a can’t miss title of 2026. All that remains is to sit back and enjoy the game as we point and laugh at PS4/5 owners who miss out…
I’m kidding!! We know I’ll be triple-dipping when it goes there and probably quadruple-dipping if Something Classic releases a physical version. Grab your copy on Switch right here.
